- Install the free Handpad companion app on your Mac
- Open both the iPhone app and the Mac app
- Enable Bluetooth on both devices
- First connection pairs over Bluetooth; subsequent sessions auto-boost to WiFi if available on the same local network

Yes. Handpad communicates entirely over Bluetooth and your local WiFi network. No internet connection is required or used.
The iPhone is ready but hasn't seen the Mac yet. Open the Handpad Mac app, make sure Bluetooth is enabled on both devices, and keep them within ~10 meters of each other.
You can pair with multiple Macs, but only one active connection at a time. Switch between paired Macs from the Mac picker in the iPhone app's settings.
Yes — Handpad uses your iPhone's native keyboard, so every input method, dictionary, and custom shortcut you have on iOS works exactly the same when typing into your Mac.
Yes. Tap "Edit" on the Shortcuts page to rearrange buttons, change actions, or create new layouts for different scenarios (movies, presentations, games, etc.).
Make sure your iPhone and Mac are on the same WiFi network and, if possible, on a 5 GHz band. Mesh networks with band steering can sometimes route the two devices through different access points, increasing latency.
