Overview

Handpad turns your iPhone or iPad into a wireless trackpad and keyboard for your Mac. We respect your privacy and built the app on a single principle: your data stays on your devices.

Data Collection

Handpad does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Specifically:

• No analytics or tracking
• No advertising
• No user accounts
• No data sent to any server, ever

Local Data

The app stores the following data locally on your device only:

• Device nickname — a name you choose, used to identify your devices over Bluetooth and WiFi
• Custom shortcut layouts — button configurations you create
• Encryption key — a randomly generated key stored in the iOS Keychain, used to secure the WiFi link to your Mac
• App preferences — UI settings, last-used page, onboarding state

None of this data ever leaves your local network.

Network Communication

Handpad communicates exclusively with the paired Handpad Mac app, using:

• Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for pairing and low-bandwidth control
• Local WiFi (TCP, same network only) for higher-bandwidth input streams

All WiFi traffic is end-to-end encrypted using AES-256-GCM with a key established during Bluetooth pairing. No internet connection is required or used.

Permissions

• Bluetooth — required to discover and pair with your Mac
• Local Network — used to send input to your Mac over WiFi for lower latency
• Microphone / Speech Recognition — only used if you invoke iOS dictation from the system keyboard. Audio is processed by iOS on-device (or by Apple's servers, depending on your iOS settings), not by Handpad. Handpad only receives the recognized text.

Third-Party Services

Handpad does not integrate any third-party SDKs for analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking. The app is fully self-contained.

Children's Privacy

Handpad does not collect any data from anyone, including children under 13. The app is safe for all ages.

Data Retention & Deletion

Because we don't collect any data, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on our end. To remove all locally stored Handpad data, simply uninstall the app — iOS will clear its Keychain entries and stored preferences.

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.

数据保留与删除

由于我们不收集任何数据,我们这一端没有任何数据可保留或删除。如需删除本机所有 Handpad 数据,只需卸载 app — iOS 会清除其 Keychain 条目和存储的偏好设置。

政策变更

本政策如有变更,更新版本将在此页发布,并标注新的 "最后更新" 日期。
